About 10 miles north of Cozumel, lies the 3 most beautiful lagoons on the island, famously known as Montecristo, Paso Balem and Rio de la Plata. These lagoons are a combination of inlets, coves, mangroves, sandy flats, coral flats, grassy flats, mud flats and shallow crystal clear waters. These waters make the perfect habitat for teeming
bonefish, permit, snook and baby tarpon, along with many other lagoon fish dwellers. The fishing on these lagoons and flats is good all year round, due to the fact that the fish don't migrate. Also, during the months of March through December, you can find great permit fishing weighing sometimes in excess of 25 pounds.
Fishing Information
Your fishing trip targets bonefish in the flats, but you will also have the chance to catch permit, snook and tarpon, along with ladyfish, mangrove snapper, jack, triggerfish, small shark and barracuda in a single fishing day.
We operate 3 flats boats from 23' to 25' powered with 60 H.P. Yamaha motors, with the latest safety equipment.
Fishing is done mainly while wading. It is important to bring a pair of either flats wading boots, diving boots or tennis shoes. We also recommend a pair of Simms neoprene wading sock or athletic socks, to avoid the sand getting in between your toes. In addition, a pair of good polarized sun glasses, a convenient hat, plenty of biodegradable sun block lotion
SPF 50+, biodegradable bug spray, comfortable light clothing and please, don't forget your camera.
Cozumel Flats Fishing Rates
Full day (8 hours) for 1 or 2 anglers: $450 USD
3/4 day (6 hours) for 1 or 2 anglers: $380 USD
1/2 day (4 hours) for 1 or 2 anglers: $310 USD

The cost of a 3rd or angler or passenger is $100 USD - Maximum 3 anglers per boat.
A 50% deposit of the total cost of your trip is required at the time of your booking to reserve your boat. The total cost of your trip must be paid in full the morning of your trip.
Aquarius offers special trips to accommodate cruise ship anglers. We welcome anglers staying in Isla Mujeres, Puerto Morelos, Playa Del Carmen, Akumal, Xel-Ha and Tulum in the Riviera Maya. The ferry service to Cozumel starts from Playa Del Carmen at 6:45 A.M. The last ferry to Playa Del Carmen leaves Cozumel at 9:00P.M. Everyday including Sundays.
Trip Includes
The trip includes an english speaking guide, who is an expert spin and fly fisherman. Full day trips include sandwiches , bottled water, soda and beer. Two fly rods and reels or four spinning rods and reels. Handmade fluorocarbon leaders, and tippets, flies or fresh bait .
Note: Our rods and reels go through daily wear and tear and sometimes abuse while fighting fish. We try our best to maintain our equipment, but we suggest bringing your own rod, reel and flies/lures if possible.
Trip does not include
The trip does not include taxi transportation to the Marina on the day of your trip. (The taxi union does not permit us to transport tourists to and from destinations on the island.) Federal fishing license. $15 USD per day. Tip for guide. We recommend $40 for 6 hour trip and $50 for full day trip.
